The Kia XCeed is a raised Ceed, sitting between a hatchback and an SUV. It drives like a regular car, with a bit more ground clearance and a crossover look. It's for people who want some extra height without moving to a heavier SUV. It was launched in 2019 and facelifted in 2022.
It shares the Ceed's engines: 1.0 T-GDi and 1.4 then 1.5 T-GDi petrol, a 1.6 CRDi mild-hybrid diesel, and a plug-in hybrid. Manual or dual-clutch automatic depending on the version. Like the Ceed, it's front-wheel drive.
XCeeds are recent enough to often still be covered by Kia's 7-year or 150,000 km warranty. It passes to the next owner if the car was serviced to the manufacturer's schedule. That's a real plus in a private sale, where otherwise you're only protected against serious hidden defects.
Before you buy, check:
- the complete service book, to keep the manufacturer's warranty;
- battery health on the Car-Pass for the plug-in hybrid;
- the Euro standard of a diesel if you drive in a low-emission zone;
- the screen, camera and driver aids during the test drive.
A good XCeed is a practical hatchback with a bit more character.
