Used Toyota C-HR

The Toyota C-HR is a compact SUV with coupé styling, best known for its hybrid powertrain. It suits drivers who spend a lot of time in and around town, where a hybrid uses the least fuel, and who want an automatic without any fuss. For a family with older children, rear space and boot are only average.

The first generation (2016-2023) is mostly the 1.8 hybrid, joined at the 2019 facelift by a more powerful 2.0 hybrid, and less often the 1.2 turbo petrol. These hybrids do not plug in: they charge themselves. The second generation (since 2023) keeps the hybrids and adds a plug-in hybrid version.

What to check before buying

• Rear visibility, limited by the small windows and thick pillar: try it while manoeuvring before you commit.
• The service history, ideally at Toyota, with invoices.
• A Car-Pass less than two months old, verified by QR code, and the battery health when it is shown.
• Quiet electric running when pulling away and at low speed on the test drive.

As a petrol hybrid, the C-HR is not affected by the ban on Euro 5 diesels in the Brussels LEZ: a plus if you drive there often.
