An electric city car is the ideal choice if you mostly drive in town and close to home. It's small, quiet and easy to park, and you charge it overnight at home or during the day at work. In the low emission zones of Brussels, Antwerp and Ghent, you won't have to worry about Euro standards either.

Range is often shorter than on a larger electric car. For daily trips, that's more than enough. If you drive Brussels to Liège and back every week, check that the real-world range holds up, especially in winter.

What to check before you buy

  • Battery health. The Car-Pass now shows it for electric cars when the data is available. Ask for a Car-Pass under two months old and check it with its QR code.
  • Charging cables. Make sure they come with the car and that its socket matches your charging point.
  • Fast charging. Not every city car supports it, or not at the same power. Look at the spec sheet.
  • The test drive. Drive for at least 20 minutes with a well-charged battery, in town and on a fast road.

Buying from a dealer gets you a legal warranty of one to two years. Between private parties, you're only covered against serious hidden defects. On Woto, every car has a story: ask for it before you sign.
