Used Audi Q5

The Audi Q5 is a premium family SUV: comfortable, quiet and at ease on the motorway or with a trailer. Used, you'll mostly find the second generation, launched in 2017 and facelifted in 2020, plus cars from the first (2008 to 2017). Since 2021 there's also a Q5 Sportback with a sloping roofline. A new generation arrived in 2024.

The range is built mainly around the 2.0 TDI diesel and the 2.0 TFSI petrol, with quattro all-wheel drive very common and an automatic gearbox on almost every car. There are also V6 TDIs, the sporty SQ5 and, since 2020, TFSI e plug-in hybrids.

The Q5 is a classic Belgian company car. Many have high mileage but a dealer service history. Plug-in hybrids, often chosen for company-car tax reasons, weren't always charged regularly, so ask how the car was used.

Before you buy, check:

• the Euro standard on the Car-Pass: a Euro 5 diesel is banned in Brussels;
• battery health on the Car-Pass for a TFSI e;
• the service history of the automatic gearbox and the quattro drivetrain;
• the tow bar, and the gearbox, if the car has done a lot of towing;
• an insurance quote and your region's registration tax.
